Fashion Hit List S/S '11

So I've begun compiling my fashion summer hit list. I've put together some ideas and trends that I think are the highlights of this years S/S fashion. Lacey Ivory white frocks or tops, with embroidered or crocheted embellishments, are one of my top trends this summer. A look that can easily be transformed from day to night, casual to dressy, sweet to playful. Simply done and an easy way to look "with it" without too much effort. By adding different pieces one can achieve various looks to reveal your mood...

For a relaxed look, why not pair this frock with flat brown boots, or cute pumps or accessorize with black for an interesting contrast.

Lacey tops with cute, short shorts are a great way to pair them for a fun and playful look, or add a bit of attitude by wearing very, bright lipstick. Working with a neutral base allows you to play with your accessories and one can go for loud and unusual pieces to compliment the look, be it bangles, (as seen above) a simple or striking belt, a pretty bow alice-band or unique jewellery, this one item can be worn in so many ways. Just have fun with it.

Shiny Pretty Things

Simple, sweet and pretty for women who like just a touch of Sparkle...

Classic Summer Style

Diane Kruger is seen here at last year's Chanel Cruise Collection Show in St. Tropez. All guests took part in a game of "Petanque." Obviously the bowls were all branded with the famed interlocking C's. When I stayed in France we would see large groups of elderly gentleman knocking it out "au bord de la mer." A social gathering in the late afternoon that these men never tired of. This is one french pastime to pick up. And yes yes I know its from last year's show but seriously this is one look I'll be doing for my summer expeditions. After all it's Chanel and fun and femininity never go out of style. Oh how I miss the French riviera... To follow are some of my favourite highlights of this year's show in Cap d'Antibes.

A book for mavericks

"Whatever You Think, Think the Opposite," by Paul Arden is one of the most inspiring and innovative books I have ever come across. It's a keepsake that I always return to when I find myself straying to the "dark" side of convention. This book emphasizes the importance of taking risks and discarding the notion of always having to make the right decision, and in doing so discovering something new or finding a better approach.  Paul Arden was the Executive Creative Director of Saatchi & Saatchi  in the 80's and was the mastermind behind many formidable advertising campaigns of his time. Now the late, Paul Arden, who was a modern day cowboy and created other books equally as important. For me this book will always be a timeless classic. So here we go, "time to rock the boat!"

Sheer Bliss

Sheer blouses are the perfect addition to every women's wardrobe. A simple 70's inspired trend that makes it oh so easy to look great and the quickest way to "priss" up your outfit. The sheer blouse can be worn for many various occasions and is definitely a look worth investing in. Found mostly in luxurious soft tones guaranteed to make a lady out of just about anyone. Who thought covering up could be so sexy?

I Want Candy!

This summer is all about colour and these sherbert-hued treats are everywhere at the moment. I for one am loving this trend and finding the right fit can make any girl blossom. From cyan to lilac, peach to pink, lime to teal (just to name a few) there's a colour out there for everyone. An instant way to make a seemingly boring outfit pop. I have my eye on a pair of candy-pink pipes, that's another one for the wish list.

I am loving this high street hit

COS is all about classic styles and beautiful basics. Through clean lines and high quality items it's clear to see their Scandinavian influence in their designs. These clothes are anything but boring. Using neutral tones with splashes of colour here and there, adapted in interesting ways, these garments are something to behold. A great place to find well tailored basics that could be carried through from season to season.

The People of the Riviera

Snapped! A couple strolling through a park in Monte-Carlo, Monaco. Love this look its classic, works every time. Who doesn't love stripes?

What I'm Loving now...

Hakaan S/S 11 Womenswear collection
I am speechless! These pieces are just too beautiful! Seemingly simplistic with beautiful details and impeccably structured to form a collection that is truly one-of-a-kind. This is without a doubt a summer fashion highlight with all white and knock out design. Hakaan is most definitely a designer to take note of.

Bits and pieces from my last year

This is from my time spent in the south of France. Nice, a shabby chic, candy coloured town that's truly unique, with heaps of character. Living here in all it's beauty and splendour was a great source of inspiration. After all who doesn't love the classic style of the Cote d'Azur.
C'est inclassable!

About this blog and me...

This is all about what I like now and forecasting what is to hopefully be the next best thing! Filled with wanderlust and obsessed with apparel. I'm currently on my travels stopping at various extended pit stops. Constantly seeking beauty and inspiration in many places to escape the mundane and find something new. Now in the big city on my new adventure to learn the ways of fashion buying and business. So let's get down to finding what's in before it's in.
